Howdy.
You folks know by now that I like to spice things up with a poem every once in a while. I’m conscious I suck at poetry, so I have no standards for myself when it comes to this form. For me, writing poetry is a fun little pastime, not accompanied by the inevitable anxieties of beginning a new piece of prose.
This was something I wrote when I was bored one afternoon. I have a hunch it’ll make you smile.
Cheers!
I’m not one to wax poetic
about the many mysteries
accompanying this gift of life.
I don't know much
about love, or death, or childhood.
I’m just a guy writing a blog.
But when my cat comes up to me
and purrs
while stretching in a perfect arc,
I can’t help but think
that while I suck at poetry,
luckily,
nature doesn’t.
Nature is our greatest poet,
because she’s reliable.
Count on her to create
the same beautiful thing
again and again,
with slight variations, yes,
a good poet is never boring,
but essentially
the same beautiful thing,
each time.
A cat is a cat is a cat,
beautifully,
reliably,
each time.
By the way, not all poets use words. Here’s a song composed by my brother-in-law that I like to listen to when I write. You can find him on Youtube at BOTECH.
Arched cat 🌙
Smile of moon
Natures nite light
Tosses tempest fits
Tail is lifted
Stroked— tale’s end.
Oh cats! Those divine creatures that makes our heart purrs when they are next to us 😊
Nice poetry 😀
